Consultation
We offer consultations to help guide you through the process of building new gardens or restoring and maintaining existing gardens. Consultations typically last 1-2 hours and are tailored to meet your individual needs. They may include such things as garden siting, plant identification, soil testing, organic pest control options, drainage solutions, plant suggestions and other ideas for your yard. Our consultations are hands-on and we’re always happy to show you how to prune, dig, plant, harvest, and manage your garden as well. We’ll also advise you on backyard chickens, honeybees and composting!
Our design, installation, maintenance and workshop services begin with an initial consultation to determine the scope of the project and to provide you with a timeline and bid.
Design
Whether you’re interested in a small vegetable garden or an entire edible landscape, we offer unique design services that meet your needs and budget. Sometimes all you will need is a simple site design which involves walking around your yard, setting out stakes for the garden and leaving you with a basic planting plan for the space. We can also do drawings and construction documentation, complete with seasonal planting plans, for you to use to install your own garden. In addition, we offer comprehensive landscape design services that include the complete design process from site inventory to construction plans.
Installation
Once a design is completed, we will install your garden from start to finish including construction of the garden beds and landscape features, importing soil and compost, installing watering systems, planting and mulching.
Maintenance
Edible Yards offers a range of maintenance plans for your vegetable gardens and edible landscapes. The basic plan includes a few visits to your garden per month to make sure your garden remains healthy and productive. A custom plan may include visits to your garden every few days for irrigation or other special circumstances.
We also offer a garden mentoring plan that allows you to work with us in your garden so that you can learn every step of way. We will help you figure out your garden’s maintenance needs based on the size and type of garden and will always leave you with instructions and next steps once our job is completed.
Workshops
We offer a range of workshops for backyard gardeners, schools, businesses, nonprofits and other organizations. If you’re interested in hosting or organizing a workshop for your group, check out some of our past workshops and give us a call!
