Thank you Amy!

My compost has done basically nothing and I've been at it for a year. I didn't know it was "bad" to just add stuff as I go--guess my pile has been cold a lot of the time. I love the trick of sticking a wooden stick into it. I'll go stir what I've got and try that stick trick.

Hi Amy, Love your work!!! I teach at UT (Art Department) and am producing an event with my Living Color students, Harvest Mandala Food Drive, UT campus, Nov 4. We are jump-starting a ritual, envisioned as a multicultural harvest festival, honoring the earth's bounty, celebrating diverse talents of the community, and sharing the harvest with the Capital Area Food Bank. This year we invite everyone to help "Build Can Mountain" and be a part of the Drum Circle Ceremony at 5 pm, ushering in the CAFB trucks as they weigh in the harvest. We are hoping to let all food writers and lovers of the land, art, music, dancing, and wellness to celebrate and support by sending out the word. harvestmandala.com. Thanks much - would love to meet sometime for coffee! Luanne

Hey there, Amy! Long time no see! I also battled leaf-footed bugs this summer and noticed that they don't seem to be able to fly upward from a resting position, but rather must drop to catch the air, like a bat does. This made it *fairly* easy to put a dish of soapy water under them and bop them in. Sometimes they even flew right into the suds in their clamor to escape my hand. This worked well for me because it was so hot this summer that I couldn't bear to wear garden gloves most days and don't like the "squishing" very much.

I think what you're doing is great!!! Best of luck to you!
