Edible Yards is a small, Central Texas-based business with a mission to help people design, build and maintain vegetable gardens and edible landscapes. We specialize in organic vegetable gardens, small-scale orchards, backyard chickens, and honeybees and offer a range of services including:

  • one-time consultations for people interested in installing their own gardens;
  • vegetable garden design and installation;
  • complete edible landscape design and installation;
  • construction and installation of chicken coops and bee hives;
  • food growing workshops;
  • orchard design and installation including fruit and nut trees and berries;
  • and maintenance packages to ensure that gardens remain productive.

Amy Crowell owns and operates Edible Yards. Amy has over fifteen years of gardening and organic farming experience and has taught food gardening classes in Austin since 1999. Amy has taught many workshops for Green Corn Project and worked as the program and workshop coordinator for Sustainable Food Center and TreeFolks. Amy also writes about wild foods for Edible Austin and is currently writing a book on the wild edible plants of Texas. Amy’s edible garden designs includes everything from patio vegetable gardens to entire farms. She holds a B.A. from Dartmouth College where she studied sustainable agriculture and helped start the Dartmouth Organic Farm. Amy is a Master Gardener and is certified in biointensive gardening and permaculture design.

Amy works with many other professional gardeners to make sure that her clients receive high-quality services that match their needs and budgets.
